I'm getting my hair done soon and I was wondering if..?

I'm getting my hair chemically straightened. Because I'm tired of it being damaged and straightening it everyday. I'm also getting clip in extensions because my hair is a little past my shoulders and I have to get my hair trimmed and it would be really short :/. Plus I've always wanted long hair. So do you think that the person at the salon would do both for me? If not do I have to wait a certain amount of time until I can put in the extensions after I get my hair chemically straightened? Oh and how long does the chemical straightening last? I heard that it's 6 months to a year. Anywayss, Thanks(:.
